Mark your calendars for the afternoon and evening of Sunday, November 5th for a Hayride sponsered by a family from New Hope Church. You may be asking this question:
What is a hayride? A hayride is a recreational ride in a large wagon or other vehicle piled with hay. The picture is an example.

We will have good fall food and drinks. So put it on your calendar and tell your friends and family. More details later..................

Luther this Thursday

Join us this Thursday evening, October 12th, at 7:00 pm at Paxton and Judy's (1326 Pierre) to watch and discuss the movie "Luther." This is one of my favorites. It addresses the divide between Catholicism and Protestantism. It also takes a look at a man who almost died bringing the Holy Bible to the common person. It's an all-around great epic film. There's passion, love, great costumes, great history, and villains. What more could you want in a movie? If you need a ride call Paxton at (913)707-3708 or Ben at (785)341-9863 or e-mail Ben at bendeaver@gmail.com. Bring a snack with you too.

Sushi Party Part IV Recap

Sushi isn't only raw fish. Sushi has more to do with the vinegar rice and seaweed wrap then the raw fish. And as you can see here can also include octopus (we did cook this one though in Japan it would probably be raw). Over 100 people joined the party this time. There was a strong representation from Japan, America, South Korea, China, India, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Malayasia (probably many more as well).
Special thanks to those who helped in the kitchen, especially our head chef, Hiroaki. Special thanks as well to Joe for renting the Frith Center for us. Special thanks to Boyu and Haruki for sharing their music with us as well.
I hope you were able to meet a new person. Please take the opportunity to meet with your new friend. Get to know eachother. Learn about eachother's culture, language, art, values, religion, family, etc.
Please send me your best pictures of the party at bendeaver@gmail.com.

We had coffee hour and a half for a second time last Friday, and had a good attendence. We explored as much as we could about fasting all around the world. There were a lot of good ideas thrown around, and some very different approaches about what we fast for. The coffee was hot and the people were talkative, so mark off next Friday October 13th so you can meet some extraordinary folks and chat for a while, until next time...

Coffee Hour-and-a-Half (9.8.06)

The first Coffee Hour-and-a-Half of the fall semester 2006. It sounded like a bunch of fun. Different folks shared about different places. I missed it because Maris and I were at a wedding rehearsal (I had to strum the guitar). Don't worry, I still drank plenty of coffee yesterday. I'm thinking that everyone should invite their friends next time. I'm also thinking that everyone should meet at least one new friend for coffee next week (or chai tea if you don't like coffee). See you later...

Check out all the great people that showed up.

Introducing International Itinerary

This blog is for anything that pertains to friendships with International students from across the globe that have somehow managed to find their way to the lovely town of Manhattan, KS (otherwise known as "The Little Apple"):
*events
*pictures
*thoughts
*news
*requests
*updates on people
*miscellaneous items

Here's a definition of itinerary in case you were wondering:
1. A route or proposed route of a journey.
2. An account or record of a journey.
3. A guidebook for travelers.

This blog will be a bit of all three of those definitions. Please feel free to post many comments. Talk to you soon...
